(1) Martin Ratliff and his family lived in Sunrise, Back Creek, Bath Co., Virginia beginning around 1801. Martin's son William was born here on Sept. 20, 1801. Martin died here in 1844.
(2) Before moving to Back Creek, Martin's family lived in Gibson Creek, Louisa Co., Virginia, where Martin was born ca. 1768. This is just northwest up the road from Trevilian. Gibson Creek was also known as Gibsons Mill Creek.
